Episode 17, #GetChatty About Your Local Businesses, Series 1

Elliot and I had a lovely chat about business agility. Starting my career in the visual art field, I’ve witnessed plenty of talented and well-meaning people have spent over a year and a lot of money within their silo, working on one idea or project, and later have their hearts and wallet broken because the art doesn’t sell.

Well, this could happen to all industries, and small businesses and independent projects can be very much at risk because of self-silo-ing.
It’s better when Elliot explains it; roll the tape!

It’s always an eye-opener to learn something new, and that’s what this podcast is about; while showcasing talents from LGBT+, friends and allies spaces, it’s also about learning from stories. Those who jump in and start something that is unique, Elliot is a great example; here’re 3 of the things I learnt from this episode:

  • Agile principles can be useful in small businesses because it’s about the principles that emphasise quick delivery, continuous feedback, and step-by-step improvement.
  • As we operate in a smaller space, we face issues such as operating in silos and the need for continuous improvement but not knowing how Elliot’s expertise is about breaking the cycle.
  • We looked into marketing as an example during our chat; I like how he broke down how one can break it into tasks like software implementation, getting feedback, how it can build into a process, and (tho we didn’t talk about it), the next step would be A/B testing it. Now that I see it as a marketer, can you come up with how you may apply it to your project?
