How can human empathy and experience in content marketing help fix internal L&D and B2B Sales? (#GetChatty miniseries) | Thinkaway Learning (Adrian Clark)

I want to draw a connection between 2 seemingly unrelated scenarios:
You’re an employee somewhere, staring at a mandatory software onboarding module created in 2009; you hit “play” on a passive 40-minute video, trying to multitask while crossing your fingers that there’s no end-of-module quiz that, if you fail, sends you back to the start.
Scenario 2: you’re a service-based business owner with a very small team, and your sales staff spend hours on initial discovery calls, or repeating the same foundational concepts to prospects who may not be qualified to sign up to begin with; the staff is smart and figures that out within 10 minutes and wraps up, but those meeting slots were lost.

They’re indeed “just part of working life”, but what if we shift our thinking: education as human-centred communication, not a “tick-a-box” exercise? That’s where Adrian comes in.

Adrian Clark (Thinkaway Learning) has joined me again for a three-part catch-up where we look at how learning content, with the right overarching focus and an interactive micro-course plan, can be great for staff L&D and sales enablement.

In part 1, we discussed how Adrian’s background in solo marketing consultancy helped to approach instructional content/design around the core idea that attention is earned, not demanded; we also talked about what Think Breaks are and how they can help people absorb information better.

In the 2nd part of this mini-series, Adrian and I focus on the training need of multi-generational, remote work and diverse workplaces. Instead of seeing all of these as hurdles to overcome or box-ticking exercises, the thinking behind how to combine interactive digital experience, scenario-based storyboarding, and internal word-of-mouth (one of marketing’s best tools) becomes something good for workplaces of any size.

By combining strategic marketing principles with human-centred L&D, Thinkaway Learning proves that when you stop boring your audience and start giving them a sense of empowerment, everybody wins. As the 3rd and final part of my Adrian mini-series, she explains that e-learning can be deployed outside internal HR and compliance, e.g. marketing and the sales lifecycle.
