Seeing Time, Energy & Attention differently, and redefining productivity for the long term | Florandorder (Christie Flora)

Episode 3, #GetChatty About Your Local Businesses, Series 2026

Some say “Time is money”, and “You have to spend the money to make the money”; within the right context, it could be true. HOWEVER…

Productivity shouldn’t be all about getting the best for the least amount of money or making the most money from the least amount of resources. If you throw your time, energy and attention into the mix, you’re going to have a different perspective – if you’re serious about your long-term future, maybe this is the perspective that you want to adopt!

You could be spending a supermajority of your waking hours being efficient at one thing in life while ignoring another: to many, work is over health. It may look reasonable in the short run, but ultimately, is it worth it? If circumstances allow, having someone like Christie can be a great boost to one’s longevity. At the end of the day, fortune favours those who are prepared, having the time, energy and attention to catch it.

Here are the top 3 lessons I got from my conversation with Christie.

Christie challenges conventional productivity models that often exclude gender‑diverse experiences, queer bodies, neurodivergent minds, people with chronic illness, etc. With proper understanding and self-acknowledgement, you can do the best job you can.
From an LGBT+ business POV, you could see it this way: Burnout is not a badge of honour; you set up your own venture to take charge of your life, so choosing to sustain for the long term over short-term gains makes sense to me!

Systems like time audits, decision‑fatigue SOS tools, and Getting Stuff Done are different ways you can introduce gentle structures into your work or daily life while staying effective. Being rigid is not the only way to get things done.
Think about our saving money analogy: you can’t save 100% of your income, but applying the right tool can help you meet different needs, so the same can be said about time, with the right systems or a combination of them, it may help you funnel your time needs.

So many of us (entrepreneurs or not) can feel stretched, overwhelmed, or alienated, and have to explain till the cows come home. There’s mainstream productivity advice that may be applicable, but there’s also a holistic, human‑centred approach aiming to balance. I’m not saying one must be better than the other, but one should explore different options available to decide on which, or a combination of elements from each, is most compatible with you.

There’s more than 1 way that things can work. I’m so glad that I chatted with Christie.
