Episode 14, #GetChatty About Your Local Businesses, Series 1
Let’s start 2025 with a fun one – JD Zamora! JD is a multidisciplinary artist, comedian, MC, and many more. In this episode, he shares his experiences and insights about performing and the role of comedy in addressing social issues – a path to address and process uncomfortable conversations and social issues, ultimately making progress and broadening one’s mind.

We also talked about what starting in comedy was like to the wallet. JD was candid about the difficulties of making a living as a comedian, the competitive nature of the industry, and the boundaries between paid and free performances.
In the last JD episode, we talked about his journey into comedy; this time, the key to learning is the approach and effects of growth and connection comedy can bring. Here’s what I mean,
- Comedy is a tool for progress, addressing uncomfortable conversations and pushing forward important discussions in a relatable and disarming way.
- JD teaches the importance of owning one’s quirks and identities by confidently showcasing a self-deprecating style.
- Growth and connection can also come from the candidness of talking about mental health.
I admire JD’s ability to make it deeper and dive into something trickier. We’re living in a world that is increasingly divided and anxious; if you have a moment, head over to JD’s website below; it may be something you enjoy!
